Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (85/15)
  • 29 oz canned tomato sauce
  • 29 oz canned kidney beans (undrained)
  • 29 oz canned pinto beans (undrained)
  • 28 oz canned chopped tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 diced yellow onion
  • 1 diced jalapeño (seeds and veins removed)
  • 2 stalks chopped celery
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions:

  1. In a heavy-bottomed stockpot, brown the ground beef. Drain the fat once it’s cooked.
  2. Add all the remaining ingredients (except butter), and bring the mixture to a boil.
  3. Lower the heat to a simmer, leaving it uncovered, and cook for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in the butter until fully melted and incorporated for added richness.
